even enemy can turn into your best friends

         Would you ever think your greatest enemy would ever become your best friend?  Probably not.  Neither did Finley, the main character from the book Boy 21 by Mathew quick.  Finley was always one of his basketball coaches favorite player so they asked if Fin could help them get a kid named Bot 21 back into basketball, but the thing is Russ is so good it would mean Finley would have to lose his starting spot at point guard on his last year of high school basketball.

This made Fin think that Russ was gonna be more of an enemy rather then a friend.  One way I know this is Finley says on page 48 "If hes even half as good as coach thinks he is, I'll lose my starting spot.  And yet coach chose me to help boy 21."  This tells me Finley is worried that he wont get as much playing time on the team or be the MVP of his team.  Another example is coach wants Finley to push Boy 21 to play his best but he never really did.  For example When Finley and his girlfriend, Erin go to the gym to practice shooting around and Boy 21 comes around he never asks him to join them to get ready for the season.  This was how Finley thought he was a bad person at first but soon he started to realize that Boy 21 didn't want to ruin his season at all and just wanted to be friends.

I realized that Finley started to like Boy 21 because he now wasn't  the only one that would get picked on.  For example kids in his school call Finley "White rabbit" and everyday at lunch kids would dump their carrots on to his tray, but they started to say the same to Boy 21.  Finley even says on page 63-64 "It feels good not to be the only rabbit"  This told me that Finley likes Boy 21's company and enjoys going down with someone else.  Another example was that Finley got Boy 21 to play on the basketball team and even during the season Finely Gives Boy 21 his Jerseys.  On page 115 The book says "Finley if I except your jersey and play my best basketball there is no way you can beat me out for the starting position of point guard..."  "You have to promise me you'll be my friend regardless.  I need you to be my friend. Please promise me" "I'm your your friend no matter what I mean it".  This shows how they became greater friends and started to care for each other.

In conclusion I started to realize the strong relationship Fin and Boy 21 have.  It also shows how good of a person Fin is because hes giving up his spot so he can make Boy 21 happy.
